Re: 302W into a TE Cortina

I have a Bronco sump and pickup for sale !!! Like Diecast buy the Castlemaine Rod Shop off Rod Hadfield (about $200) and then u also need the tailshaft shortened or a new one fabricated. I am trying to use the headers off a 5.0L ED which r like shorty headers. Crappy but cheap !!!

Re: 302W into a TE Cortina

Hey with the hadfeild kit you might want to check your exhaust clearance as you might have to modify the firewall and trans tunnel a little and if your wanting to run the heater box, can be modified to exit from the top. Also if your going to want to put a manual in you would have to put a hyd clutch and drill a hole in the clutch peddel and strenghten the firewall a bit of mucking around. Fitting a auto is less hassels. Hey if you have all the parts its a weekend job. Then to the exhaust fitter & some one like Harry cheers in bayswater (9729.9841) if your in vic to have a t/shaft made up. The problem is in Vic you will have to convert to gas and box in the rear trail arms for a engineers.

Re: 302W into a TE Cortina

buickman, why do have have to box in the rear trail arms? didnt think you would have to modify a factory setup. Have you had engineers on a TE cortina?

A friend of mine use to work for ford in the late 60's, early 70's and ford actually tested a V8 in the TC-TD cortina. Problem was the clevo was to heavy for the cortina's light pommy designed front end. If the windsor was available at the time it may have been a reality.

It was part of a requierment that the engineer wanted done. Apperantly they are likely to tear the trail arm of. My son has a V8 cortina in the back yard that needs an engineers report only. The biggest hassel is the car was made into a show type car and to run LPG would create ugly plumbing as the wiring is hidden. It won best late cortina at ford day in Geelong this year. I think he is going to sell the car in the new year as a V8 powered MK1 Capri is the baby now.
Here is a pic I have posted this before

The exhaust system can run less than the 10mm clearance required for engineers. It might clear but you might also have to take a hammer and modify the tunnel a bit. Trail fitting will let you know if you have to modify the firewall tunnel.
