400 Cubic Inch V8 MKV Cortina

Just picked me up the steal of a life time

400ci V8 fitted into a tidy 1983 MK5 Cortina ex 2.3 V6 Ghia.
(will replace with a 351w and work it out to 427)

came with.
Chrome Aircleaner, Quadrajet 4 barel carb, Electric fuel pumps and cooling fans, Extractors, New Two and a half inch twin exhausts,

Some spares were.
Chrome rocker tops, cross member, power steer rack, Trans Oil cooler, M/cylinder etc.

rocker covers are being fitted as we speak well.. later today.

I am strongly thinking of dumping the alloy's on her in favour of some oldschool chromies. 15" Modgulars.
will tint windows and lower her as i see fit.

I have already copped flak from holden lovers about using a holden engine. AS IF! it is a ex lyank tank engine.

any comments welcome
cheers

Re: 400 Cubic Inch V8 MKV Cortina

ok mods were totally new front end for xmembre and suspension. brakes too. and forewall was cut out and redone so it could sit low.

price was.... wait for it.. 35oo nzd! how sweet is that?

wheni first saw her it was 45oo, i was 1500 short. when i next saw her at 35oo i knew i had to have her.

I have had the brake lines redirected away from the headers.
and arranging the speedo to be fixed.

will have pics later for you guys peeling back rubber
will get a dyno done later. will post results. i am hoping for around 300 ponies.

and thanks for the welcome

Re: 400 Cubic Inch V8 MKV Cortina

well... thats the last thing i am doing

on the desert road i see a hsv clubsport pull up next to me. and he gives me a puzzled look because of the two pipes behind me and takes off.

I keep up with him and decide that it is time to over take. I pull out and put my foot down about 50% and flew past him with a mighty thumping v8 noise. and the widest grin u have ever seen. pulled up in front and he kept up with me till i pulled into a garaged.

the guy pulls in behind me and i thought ohoh cop!

nope just a hell curious holden owner wonder why a "cortina" flew past him I showed him what had been down he was very impressed. but did not like the idea of a chev donk in a ford said i was cheating.

ahh well once I get used to the car and its take offs i wil post a nice burnout for you guys
