Iv had my TC for about a year now, pulled her off the road about 8 months ago, blasted it, paneled it, smooth the bay, cut out a little rust and plated it, all the usual crap, anyway was going do it up and just run the pinto and 4spd.....got over that idea pretty fast.
I now wana go the 8
Iv got a 302 clevo, CRS mounts and sump, some MSD gear etc... so far, anyway my point now is been the 4cyl model, has neone had probs with mounting a radiator and clearance issues with the water pump? should I just go elec? should I just cut a section for the top rad support?
Iv read a few posts on that so yeah any other things I should be looking out 4 fitting her up?
and lastly, not really the forum i should be posting in but wat do you guys reakon the best way 2 spend $5000 on a 302c is?
is it the early tc without the cutout on the firewall for a 6?
u'll need to chop the rad support out to get the radiator out of the engine bay. there is room between the rails to squeeze a commodore radiator in there. also with an electric water pump and thermo fan u'll have heaps of clearance.
i reckon the cheapest way to get a maximum hp increase in a 302c is to stick a 51 crank and rods in it.
are you gonna register it?

yeah plan for rego. not sure how thatll go. Its a four cyl model so yeah there are no rad support chops, If i have to Ill go the chop and clean it up nicely (better than the factor job was hah), Iv got a post Best way 2 spend $5000 on 302c? bout the plans for engine.
I reakon slotting an E-series rad in wouldnt be 2 hard, sectioning out some of the bottom rad support in front of the rails. that way EL thermos would suit nice. what you think?
get permission from the constabulary first. it's not as hard to get as ppl think.
i didnt think u could register a cleveland in a cortina in wa. i could be wrong(as i've never tried to) but i thought it was for weight reasons. i do know of a bloke in oakford with a 351C in a TD and he swears black and blue that it's registered. proof is still to be seen but i have my doubts as his engine is solid mounted with an engine plate. definitely looks the part though.
u'd have to ask the coppers first but i dont reckon they'd mind u cutting to squeeze a radiator in provided u can prove it's gonna be safe and strong. cut too much out and u might have issues with headlights.
although easily modified, e series radiators had the feed inlet from the reservoir half way down the driver's side tank and dont have a filler as part of the unit - u'd have to run a header tank.
when i had my radiator made, the bloke used a core from an early fairlane(ZD i think) and mated it to the cortina tanks. back then i figured if it's capable of keeping a cleveland cool then it'll keep a 4.0L cool. just a thought
are you building the car as a weekend thing or going the whole car show hog?
hey does your xf in your sig have the rego AXF ...?

yeah man I know, thats what I want, cause itll be under the rad support I dont want a filler on the top.

How ya goin Chad_XF, i replyed in ya engine post too. For a radiator go to a radiator place and ask them to custom fit one up. I had it done for my capri. That way they can get the biggest core possible in and the hose inlet/outlet exactly where u want. They didnt charge much more than the std core price for the work. Rego wont be a drama especialy if that model came with a 250ci. If not engineers cert will see ya through. No that scary. When i got my car rego'd they didnt seem to care about engine weght only capacity. Be sure to specify clevo on ya paperwork, i did just in case it came up, but they didnt care. Do it by there rules and you can do heaps more than people realise.
yeah thanks guys, just giving a little update, since im not on the net to much anymore. the wagon is on hold at the moment, well rebuilding the k frame and stuff, and been between other projects (1980 2 door escort, and my 75 F100 that im mini trucking) neway got my hands on a TC sedan with factory sunroof, pretty flogged out, but been a panel beater, its just abit extra time, this will be a skid car, maybe have rego later since iv made the body that straight it could be painted black, thats also getting a V8.
So yeah anymore V8 talk? whats the deal with relocating the booster? as Im thinkin bout running pipes thru my inner gaurds.
