To my knowledge it was a one-off prototype made by Ford UK. A toe-in-the-water type thing that was met with a lukewarm response. I've never heard of it making it to any form of mass-production.

According to what i know, there were 4 built, but only 1 has survived to this day, its a creamy-brown colour and lives near brisbane. However Ive heard 100's of stories about parents of parents friends owning this and my favourite being that a guy bought a original lotus MK1 for $15 from an old lady who was cleaning out her garage, thats a crack up, I love hearing it....
But yeah, Ive heard 4 from alot of sources, dont know how close that is to the truth though

found it. looks like an australian rego to me and it's even got 12 slots on it.
i can see why they stopped making them. i look at that and get the 120Y horrors.

There is a MK1 Cortina fastback and it is located out near Ipswich under a house along with an array of other vehicles. This particular one is a beige/yellow in colour, but is only a Cortina , not a GT. I was given a first hand look at this vehicle while I was looking at purchasing one of his other cars. The car is how it was when Ford let it go, except for a set of 12 slot mag wheels. If I remember right it even had a bench seat in her. I was very lucky to of been able to see this car in all its glory, as it was something I had read about. This happened about 4/5 years ago and at that stage the car was imaculate, with the owner saying he would never sell it.
I will have to research for more info on the cars , but I can definitely say that the cars were built in Geelong by none other than Lew Bandt, the same man who gave us the Ford Utility. He also built the FALCON CONVERTIBLES (6 from memory) used for some kind of fashion parade in the mid 60's........
where does one apply to get the job making the "one-offs"?
