Re: help on tubbing te cortina

Thanx for the pics and info TD302, this has helped me out alot and given me ideas on how to do mine. Sum pics of the TE would be great to. Have you had any problems with the upper arm mounts pulling away with the bigger tyres?. I had another TE cortina which i had this problem and it only had 205x15 tyres. I did reinforce this area in my current TE and had no problems so far, but it only has 205x15 at the moment.

Re: help on tubbing te cortina

There not tubs. What your talking about is mini tubbing. And yes the rear seat will fit.

Re: help on tubbing te cortina

They are tubs...wheel tubs. He said wanting to fit 275's so figured mini tubbing is what he was talking about. I think i know the difference
Corty351w Yes i've ehard of this before. I plated the top mounts on both mine and Dons. His were cracked (running a very healthy 250)

Re: help on tubbing te cortina

THanks TD302... Im defently going to give this a go. IM runing a stock lenght diff with AU 15's... I figure these should have the right ofset to run a 265/15...
What mod did u do to the fuel tank as i can see the wheel all ready is close ... or would it be simpler to remove it and fuelcell it ?..
Ive had to weld up my mates top right hand mount on his TE cortina, running a fairly warm 250 and a locker. It tore it complty from the chassis rail.. I havnt got to plating my mounths up yet its somthing ill do when i attemp to do this mini tubing :>... The idea of 265's under a cortina is very very tempting..
Ive ran it once at calder and id love to be able to use some converter of the line instead of half throttle..

Re: help on tubbing te cortina

I've never refitted the std tank, I fitted both cars with fuel cells fitted after i "MINI" tubbed them. I'd say to mod the std tank would cost more then a cell. Both mine and Dons didn't have any form of external filling... we never got hassled for it but its not legal. Mind you both had mod plates too :-) You could also find a tank out of something else and fit that under the boot floor.

Re: help on tubbing te cortina

All i did with mine (the old TD) was cut out the spare wheel well only. My new TC i've cut the whole floor out as there was alot of rust. I've got the new floor cut to size ready to be welded back in. Sorry no pics yet The TC isn't quite ready for pic's yet, it's what you'd call a ugly duckling at the moment plus haven't had much spare time or money. I've also got the block dummied up so I can work out where to put the bloody turbo and pipe work without making the engine plate look like swiss cheese. Not the best engine bay for a turbo'd Clevo

OH nop never had any problem with the rear shelf

Re: help on tubbing te cortina

I had 275's under mine without mini-tubbing, and reckon i could have fitted 295's. Use a screw bottle jack and a couple of blocks of wood. It works a treat.
