Re: Looks Like Another Engine For Corty

it's not a simple conversion. i've searched far and wide about doing it on my current project. the biggest problems are the sump and ecu. the sump is an integral part of the bottom end but faces the wrong way so unless u can recast a sump u clean out of luck. either that or modify the cradle so the sump bowl is at the front. then u have to relocate the rack cos the sump would be where the rack should be. the second issue is that a BA pcm controls the whole car, everything from the brake lights to climate control to engine management and everything in between. at this point in tim u have two options 1)wire up the harness into the whole car(complete harness weighs just short of 40kgs, u figure how much wire there is) or 2)the only aftermarket ecu's available which utilise the wastegate control, injection, cam timing and fly by wire is the nizpro unit . thier packages start at about $15,000

i think i'll just bolt a hairdryer up to my sohc, non variable cam timed, ed 4.0L and put up with the 20 or so hp i'll be missing from the barra
