Re: Looks Like Another Engine For Corty

u'll find heaps of info regarding the barra engine into a cortina. it can be done but in a nutshell there are several majors issues u'll have. the sump is around the wrong way and it's not easily modified as the sump is cast alloy and forms an integral part of the bottom end. the other major issue is ba's dont have an engine ecu, they have a pcm which controls everything from the engine management to the brake lights, air con etc. unless u want to wire up the whole car and every sensor along with it u cant use the original pcm. as far as i'm aware there is only one aftermarket ecu available and if u want to utilise the fly-by-wire and electronically controlled boost control(lets face it, why would u use a barra engine engine and not turbo it) and thats by nizpro. from memory they do an ecu and engine wiring loom package which starts at $12,000aud.

apart from that it's the same amount of work attached to any engine conversion.

Re: Looks Like Another Engine For Corty

ahaha, fair enough. I got a bit excited when I saw it. I guess I just wanted it to be true.

Can't wait till someone does it. Kinda makes me wish I was starting all over again so I could give it a go.
