I agree, would not recommend cutting the original springs. You need handling so do what I did years and years ago with my TE.
Fitted Pedders heavy duty sway bars front and rear, installed touring or sports gas shockers as well as heavy duty lowerring springs. I then got them compressed - NOT CUT! by some gurus in Dandenong - Melb. I went further and replaced all rubber bushes with polyurethene ones. Now the car is stiff as......and sits nice and handles real well. My only regret is doing the car up 9 yrs ago as the rage then were 15" wheels. Today you go straight to 18"!!!! Damn.
Must admit is has the old charm look with polished 15" Simmonds B45 on 245/50 series rubber. Still got it today but looking at selling if anyone is interested in a show n shine 79' TE.
