You should give it a go yourself mate. It's not hard at all. And very cheap too. I didn't fabricate full new arches though. What are you getting done? I did mine for grand total cost of a bottle of Jim Beam for the use of a mates mig oh plus $300 for a fuel cell. All the steal needed a sheet metal place gave to me. I did a flat boot floor too as your getting done. The back seat needed a few mods to fit back in too. What are they charging to do the job if you don't mind me asking?

i got quoted $1300 to do the tubs and flat floor.wich i thought that was a good price considering mood motorsports quoted 1400 just for the tubs.as for doing it myself i would give it a go but i dont know the first thing about fabrication and welding.i bought a mig welder to do the flat floor but thought it was just as easy to get the shop to do it all in one go.if its possible can you give me a detailed run through on what excatly you did to tub it cause i think you have done a spot on job on your old corty.and i might just have a go myself and try and save $1300.

Re: My 250 TE.

The pics show the basic idea on whats got to be done. Ok I'll see how I go...
First you'll need to clean all the crap and road crime off from under the tub. Then mark out and cut the tub in half. You will also need to remove the mounting points for the rear fire wall and boot hing support as they're spot welded to the inner half of the tub. Use the inner 1/2 of the tub as a template and cut out the metal so the tub will sit against the chassis rail also trim the boot support and rear fire wall so they can be welded to the re-positioned tub. Then stich weld the inner tub to the chassis rail inside and out (making sure everything is square and level). Once thats done it'll look like the 2nd pic. There are 2 ways you can do the next part. 1st (which I did) cut a filler strip of metal (same thickness as the tub) about 15-20mm wider then the area needing to be covered so theres a 10mm overlap (also shown in 2nd pic). This gets stich welded also inside and out (approx 1 inch long welds max). Make sure you paint the cut edges in an etch type primer before you start welding. The 2nd way is to cut the filler strip so it fits snug between the two halfs (approx 1.5-2mm gap either side) then using a oxy and filler rod weld it in place, a hammer and dolly will also be needed for this process. Clean the welded area up with a grinder disk etc. This way looks very neat but is a little harder to do. Then weld the rear fire wall and boot support back to the tub. Once all this is done seal the whole area with a body sealer inside and out very very well then paint. It'd be easier to show you in person but thats hard to do. There are a lot of magazines around that show this procedure done. I hope this is clear enough to make some sence as this is still only my first attempt at mini tubs. Doing this allowed me to run 255*60*15's that are 27" tall on 8" rims.
