Hi,

I'm looking at starting a project on a TD cortina. I've rebuilt a 4cyl TD and did an auto to manual conversion as my only mechanical background, so my knowledge is still quite basic. I'm also a student so i want to keep the costs to a minimum, but sill end up with something respectable.

I have a nice shell to start with so it's pretty much a blank slate. I want to keep it all Ford for simplicity, and preferably a six for efficiency.

I had thought an OHC fuel injected from EA-EL falcon with T5 box. Will this bolt straight in?

Shell was a 4cyl, so i need a GB x-member from somewhere. Where do i find this? CRS?

I want bigger wheels and preferably discs all round. (I've seen some tips from holset_cortina) How much $$$ will i be looking at to set up the brakes etc.?

Should i keep the stock Diff?

Not sure on interior at this stage

Any help anyone? I want to get most of it sorted for cost before i get into it.

if u can weld, solder and read a wiring diagram then thats all the knowledge u need.

no it will not bolt straight. there are a million issues that u have to overcome but it is possible.

u'll have to make it yourself. thats one of the easy parts so if this bit troubles you then dont embark on the whole mission.

1200 for the front brakes is the cheapest for a hoppers kit. rear brakes all depend on your tastes and requirements.

not if u want rear disc. otherwise why not?

it's pretty hard to put a cost on it. it'd cost u somewhere between 5-10K depending on how u did certain things and if u did it yourself or got other ppl to sort stuff out. not that u need all of the money before u start cos it's not a weekend conversion. it'll take u a few months. there was a te for sale with an ef engine for about 7 not so long ago. dont know if it sold or not.

is the ohc 2.0 still in there?

if it is, or even if its not, forget the hassle of engine conversion and just turbo it (or maybe supercharge with one of those toyota sc14blower).

power, handling and bang for buck.......

sure you wont have the power of a turbo 6 but you'll rip the s#^t out of an n/a 6 (and most n/a v8's), espicially in the twistys.
