if u have a cast iron head then the blocks are different and the distributor hole is slightly smaller. everytime i've done the conversion i've had the distributor body machined down to fit. if u got an alloy head engine then the xd/xe distributors drop straight in.
the xf's ran EST so if u want to use that distributor u'll have to wire in a load sensor(looks like a map sensor) and all the wiring to the module which mounted behind the left hand kick panel.
another easier(not neccessarily cheaper) alternative is to rebush/rebuild your distributor and use an aftermarket electronic ignition. i did over 200,000kms in with an "Ignitor" system and never had any grief.
