Re: te v8 brake upgrade

an XA or XB master cylinder will bolt straight onto the cortina booster but u need to change the flare nuts on the end of the pipes as they have different threads.

$2500 is reasonable providing it's all 4 wheels. from memory the hoppers kit is about $1300(search the forum, there is a post here regarding) so $1200 for rears incl master cylinder isnt too bad. u have to remember that this is probably the best off-the-shelf product available and it's good for a v8 in a corty with 500+hp. try buying 500+hp for $2500

You will need to use the XB master and just modify the tongue a bit as it's a bit longer than the TE master. That figure of $2500 is inclusive of the hoppers kit. I'm happy that you're taking the effort to have the car engineered as there have been some posts on this site for various conversions that leave a bit to be desired. I can only appreciate your willingness to do this right the first time and not fall into peer pressure of changing things for the sake of others.
mate i like to make sure 100% before i spend a cent on my car.because i hate having to spend twice cause somthing that i wasnt sure of doesnt work.

So far my costs for brakes are;

Hoppers Kit ( Less Rotors ) $850
Cross Drilled/Slotted DBA Rotors $260/Page Ranking/front
Cross Drilled/Slotted DBA Rotors $260/Page Ranking/rear
2 x PBR VH40 Boosters new $800/Page Ranking
2 x Recoed exchange rear calipers $250/Page Ranking

Doesn't take long to add up to do it right so by the time I'm finished I'll probably be closer to $3000 fitted but money well spent.

Re: te v8 brake upgrade

I fitted the XA rotors using the CRS studs etc but used a four spot RX7 caliper. The only reason I did this is because the Hopper Stoppers kit wasn;t around back then.

By the time you buy the XA rotors, CRS kit, calipers, hoses, bearings, etc it all adds up to be in the ballpark of the hopper stoppers kit anyway.

You can do it cheap with the CRS kit buy using second hand parts but we are talking about brake upgrades so it is pretty pointless using clapped out old HQ calipers which have been sitting around the wrecking yard.

The hoppers gear is all new and it is no hassle fitment, bigger rotors bigger calipers.

CRS you still have to mess around machining the XA falcon hubs, then have to grind the back of the caliper mount on the uprights which is illegal then fit a bodgey clearance bolt back through a threaded hole to attach the caliper bracket. This is why I did not use the CRS caliper bracket and chose to make my own. It works but it is crude.
