G'Day Everyone,
Soon, i will most probably be changing my TC's auto for a 4 speed manual (borg warner) unit from a TF cortina, and i have two enquiries about the job.
-Does anyone know if the tunnel needs to be modified to house the 4 speed?
-Is the diff ratio for the automatic different to that of the 4 speed manual?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The tunnel should fit the 4 speed no drama, i think the main issue with cortinas was going from manual to auto (i belive manual tunnel was smaller).
Diff ratio doesnt really matter, manuals had higher ratios, 3.2 or so, I will guess you have 3.7 or 3.9 diff with the manual you are going to have fun, but speedo will be out.

I did put something here, but it vanshied, I think
TF diff won't fit straight in to a TC they have different shock mounts
is that the only difference?

Fairly sure have put 9 inch made for TC into TF before everything bolted up except for shocks ( & of course the tailshaft but that won't matter to you )
how did u get around that? use the earlier shocks?

We cut the brackets off the TF diff & welded them onto the TC diff in your case bieng opposite way you'll have to cut the TF brackets off then drill a hole for the bottom shock mount bolt . You'll need some tube that slides over the bolt to put in between the two plates where you drill so it doesn't crush once tightened . Just have a look at your diff & you'll see.
