in street machine ford edition, an artice on windsors tell u how to get 250rwkw from the 5L na, an au base would cost $6000 to get that 250rwkw, where an eb-el would take $11,000 to get it. id rekon in a falcon u would need at least 250rwkw to get a 12 something. this is all NA too.

n/a means naturally aspirated, that is the engine doesn't have forced induction (a supercharger or turbo) or nitrous.

Depends on which AU model we're talking about, but in general the AU 5.0 has better heads, inlet manifold, throttle body and exhaust than your EF 5.0. Some AU models (tickford enhanced) also came with better cam and roller rockers. I sure there is more but I think these are the main differences.

I don't see how there is $5,000 more to build a 250rwkw EB-EL over an AU, so I guess I'll be buying the mag tomorrow.

Not that I have done it, but if I was building a 250rwkw n/a 5.0, I would ditch the AU heads, manifold, throttle body (unless it was a 70mm) exhaust and cam. Doesn't leave much difference between the EF an AU 5.0's does it?

Mick

The mag is a Street Machine special edition on Fords. It should be at your local newsagent.

I'm not going to comment further until I've read the article!!

Re: 12 sec xr8 (ef)

You could build a Blown 5L for similar money, right??

For 12's, trans and diff strengthening, adjustable rear struts for the strip, good motor like above, and lots of practise launching it.

Off topic for 1 sec, what does your car sound like Big Mick?? I can get one of these systems trade price, but I don't know if they will be as good as a twin 2 1/4".

Yea I agree blown is your best bang for buck, specially on a daily driver as when it's not on boost it will drive like normal.

Re exhaust: It sounds great (after I got rid of the droning) but I reckon that a twin 2 1/4" would sound better imo. I went the 3" single because I have a full tickford body kit fitted and there is no way I could get the twin 2 1/4" to exit the rear spoiler without hacking it.
