Re: Boost

ive planned a straight gas turbo setup for under $1000( once i sell my extractors) and im upto building the exhaust manifold, and getting a GRA throttle body. The turbo i bought is off a truck and is reasonably sized compared to a t03.

http://www.fordgallery.com/showphoto...cat/500/page/1

no idea if my engine will cope though.

Re: Boost

yeah i wanted the cfi beast out of dads old car to build up, but we sold the car for $350 lol
my 3.9 at 270,000 had a hone, re ring, and thats about it. Now its done 308,000kms and those soft old pistons are going to love whats coming!

Ill probly get a long ef motor, hone it and put in forgies, and put all my stuff on that later on.

Re: Boost

well, i have been undergoing the turbo thing for the past 18 months.

all the hardware is done (after 2 grenaded engines)

au block, ef crank, custom rods, custom pistons. au vct head. turbonetics t72(soon to be turfed for a t88), 3.7 tru trac lockered diff, full circut spec suspension. now, i have to get the cash togeather to finish of the body work, the 12 point cage, the massive brakes, and the dog box to go yet.

then i will be done, hopefully 1000+hp, 7000rpm, 34 psi. 1420kg weight.

cheers.joe.

Re: Boost

Would be interesting for all of us that are interested in getting supercharger's/turbo charger's if it were at a reasonable price and negotiate this with one supplier, hopefully one that could support us in our major cities.
Would definately be keen, gettin peeved off with these little turbo'd 4's!

Re: Boost

gm destroya, the day you actually get that thing on the road (and more importantly, down the 1/4), everyone on FF will probably rock up to see it :)

I'm surprised so many people are planning V8s or bigger engines actually.. surely, once you add up the expenses of new extractors, new intake, cracking the block open to fit some really good internals, and the fact that it's still limited by the maximum possible volumetric efficiency (eg. a 351 stroker is never going to produce more power than theoretically possible, but a turbo can always be cranked up an extra couple of PSI), it doesn't make as much sense..

Ohh well, each to their own I guess :) Boosted TQEs sound more fun though.. especially ones like that brilliant 10sec EL with the TA45 :)

Re: Boost

Hmm, it is true.. V8s sound nice, 4 bangers with their fart-can exhausts and (occasionally fake) BOVs are a little less impressive, I guess

Re: Boost

I've got a T4 turbo (internal waste gate), a basic mainifold (prob wont use got its that basic), intercooler, 2 larger injectors, and all the plumming for a top mounted intercooler... Would of had it all in a EA but it got wrecked... So now I'm just waiting to pay off my EL and then I'll put it into that...
