Did someone say supercharged?

Oh right - that was me.

Yeah, turned the engine over on Saturday afternoon after a week of dirt, oil, blood and phone calls to CAPA (who are bloody good help on the phone by the way).

All the idling tests went without problem. Have now been driving it around for a day and a half.... have eliminated a minor slippage problem on the pwr steering pulley so for now it's looking good. Another 150-200km and the bearings will be broken in. Just need that damned chip before dyno tuning.

BOV makes quite a strange noise at idle as it is pushing a fair bit of air out. Apart from that, feels like normal! (not allowed to boost, not allowed to rev > 3000 and DEFINATLEY not allowed to put under load yet).

But its so close you can smell it. Oh right, thats the oil i spilt on the exhaust

Re: Did someone say supercharged?

Nice one

All this supercharger talk........im seriously thinking about dropping the turbo idea for a Vortech. with a 2nd hand kit it'll come in a little cheaper, its a little easier, it wont make the same torque or HP but it'll always shit over anything N/A. And you get great blower whine noise lol.

Supercharged! Where, Where (Gunns runs out side to check if someone magically dropped one in under my bonnet). Good to here its all gone well. Any ideas what she'll pull on the dyno?
Why is everyone getting them before me? Thats right I have no money.

Re: Did someone say supercharged?

Gunns, certainly not trying to be a rwkw hero. Maybe 190kw at the wheels - she's doing 116 back there at the moment (well, before last week, well - you know what i mean). Just lookin for some nice torque application without having to play "let's throw money at the internals". I'm sure there'll be plenty on NA guys'n'gals out there who will put me to shame on the dyno. I'm fine with that.. (*sniff*).

old_mate - yeah ive gone for the powerdyne so no 'whirring' to be heard - but the bypass valve sounds like a hovercraft at idle. Certainly got a few rubbernecks sitting in traffic this morning!

EFFalcon - tempting doesnt begin to describe it. All it would take is about 2inches of movement in my right foot.... but i have it under good authority this will COMPLETELY DESTROY the engine, which i am inclined to believe.

Almost got a full roll of pics (yeah still doing things the ol' fashioned way) but saving a few for next coat of wax so can show her off in all her glory.

And if anyone in SA needs the tools to get the pwr steering pulley on and off (yes, different tools) then sing out. These are now useless to me

Great to see matey, I didn't realise you were doing it so soon. You might want to get us a sound file as well as pics.

Well done, and keep us posted!
