ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

On an ED Classic 4.0, what kinda power outputs would I get with a decent (around $5k to spend) supercharger or turbocharger at the rear wheels?

Thanks.

Re: ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

I think you would get around 200-250rwkw; but I'd be budgeting 6k - I've spent around 3k so far on my setup (which is actually for sale cus I've had to abandon it <look in the power part of the marketplace section...its all unused :-)> )and I think you would need about $3500 for a new computer, injectors, intercooler and piping...(oh and of course a boost controller heeh)

220 to 250 on std auto with BIG oil coolers...
The power figures don't sound that high but its 11 second territory...
Remember they make heaps of low end torque and it pulls right through to 5500 + rpm...

Re: ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

mine made about 215RWKW on 6-7psi but that was with a T51R (read: big ass turbo) and ran 104mph in a 1750kg car at the drags.

BTW that was just driving off the line not loading the auto up at all so it was hella lag........auto was dead, thats why it only rana 14.2 had atleast a 12.90 in it with a good auto and good tyres (now written off so cant confirm it yet)

Re: ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

Yeah new injectors and a decent engine management will see it hit 250 pretty easy with a turbo.
Guy here has intercooled t66 on his ED running roughly 260rwkw and hit 11.7 down the 1/4mile i think. Not bad aye. All stock internals, stock auto, EMS8860 computer

Unsure what youd get with a s/c.

Re: ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

Im also looking at the whole turbo project process with my EBII fairmont 92 model. Im so interested in doing it, im getting getting more and more obsessed with doing it. But im taking my time, doing it slow. Still learning about it all, so hear pops a question from me......- What turbo would best suit my engine/vehicle, its a 4 litre 6 cylinder ebII 92 model????

Re: ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

Id use a t04 as a minimum.
Is probably what i will be getting if i do infact end up turbo-ing one of my cars

Guy i know is using a T66 (big!!) turbo, done that originally coz with such a big turbo it doesnt get as hot, so u dont need a intercooler at low-med boost.
Now he runs a cooler anyway

Re: ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

A GT 3040...
They are not cheap but save the extra for the ball bearing and water cooled cartridge which comes with GT sreies..Go for A.R around 1.06...You'll need external wastegate aslo...$2500 for turbo and around $600 for external w/g...
www.gcg.com.au Carefull there are cheap crap turbo's out there and Ebay especially...

Re: ED 4.0 Super/turbocharged.. what sorta RWKW?

A t66 sounds quite decent, i heard they are quite big, but very effective. Why would i choose the t66 over the GT3040, and vicer versa????
