EX vg30det

considered getting two second hand turbo's off nissan VG30DET, will these be OK on 351

what is max boost they can provide, are they good turbo's.?

what should i look for when buying them?

does 700 to 800 for the pair seem reasonable.?

chuck

Re: EX vg30det

I believe the may bit a bit too small for a 351. Your engine is almost double the capacity of the VG30DET and will probly be strangled higher up in the revs with the smaller turbos.

Not quite true the VG30Et IS single turbo and IS 3Ltr...
The VG30TT had twins...Try get them off a latter model 4 door as they are single turbo's on them...
Good for street and good starting point..Yes they are on the small side but if you pay around $300 each for them they're o/k...
A few things with them... They have ceramic turbine wheel that can break off main shaft when over boosted or over spun...It doesn't cause engine damage if this happens..They can be upgraded with Garrett wheels and centre for the price of one good turbo..Then any housings can be put on either side as you wish..I wouldn't worry if they didn't make say ??Over 500 h.p the torque would be unbelievable !!!In the U.S they use the Ford 2.3 sohc turbo X's 2...

What is max Boost they will support on 351. 8 to 1 comp, small cam.

Or would that also depend on other variables??

Re: EX vg30det

Yes it depends on tune and fuel..As in how much can be supplied..If efi atleast 30 / 36 Lp or so injectors should get you just over 500 h.p with bags of torque...At a guess I'd say 12 Lp.. BUT remember boost is actually a restriction of flow!!! There are a few variables, heads, i/c set up etc...
