Ok, well I just want to upgrade my NL Fairlane's exhaust I think for now as the engine seems fine and sounds excellent (to me). However, I believe it could still sound A LOT better and hence I am looking to upgrade the exhaust. This is not so much related to performance, but I would rather get more performance boost than have better sound...
Anyway, I don't really know much about the exhaust system but I do know the basic components and what they do. Can anyone suggest what I could save up for? I don't get too much money as I am still in school atm, but there must be something I can do somewhere...
If exhaust isn't the way to go, what else could I do?
for cat back systems, I'd go a "walker big-bore" with the optional "ultra-flo" centre muffler, cost me $328 installed, including a nice oval tip....
full extractor system, well you can go passed a Jim Mock Motorsport DEV1 kit, $980 installed, power on my EF (same engine as your NL) went from 102rwkws to 126rwkws with no other mods except for exhaust and sparkplugs...
hope this helps...
Dave.

Have a chat to wreckers about extractors, they do get cars in with them and it's not as if they wear out
I picked up my Pacemakers and a matching 2.5" exhaust for $300 total, the mufflers and cat were still OK so I'm not complaining hey!

Well I went to the local exhaust centre and got a quote...
$350 - 2.5" steel, cat back and fitted
$580 - 2.5" stainless steel, cat back and fitted
$880 Pacemaker Extractor fitted
Damn that extractor is way more expensive than I thought! Well not so much that, but apparently it will take them a while to install it so they charge like $200... Also, I do have a 302, so that must be why it is $$$. Genie's are like $100 less as well...
The guy said that the system is just straight because it is hard to install a dual system or something in a car like mine... My next question is, will there be any potential further mods to my exhaust after I get one? If so, do I just get the plain steel setup now and replace it with the superior setup later on?

880 for Paceys dude, that's a total rip off....they're only like 300 brand new, so that's 580 for fitting!!!
Dave.

I realise that many people do have 6 cyls and that they always say that their extractors are like $300-400. However, I have an eight and I think this does influence the price of the extractors... Correct me if I'm wrong, but it does make sense.
hehehe, sorry dude, I didn't realise you have an 8.
turst me I'd prefer an 8....they sound soooo sweet..
Dave.

You can definently do alot better then that I bought my pacemakers for about $450 and then went and got them fitted. You'll need some 2.5" cats with flanges too. Also, ask to look at the muffler they plan to use and make sure it's a proper straight-thru job, not some ghey 'super-turbo' muffler.
