hey all

ive got a 1969 mark 1 escort with a 1600 motor.im looking to put a turbo on it for more power.is this possible??or a really impossible job??any feedback would be greatly appreciated

You can ..Just that there combustion chambers are in there pistons so tuning will need to be right on and boost referanced so it retards as boost rises...

Imo I would simply drop a 2.0 Cortina motor in there.The 2.0 will bolt up to 1600 gear box.Or the 2.0 Cortina box will fit..Engine mounts are the same, change radiator so its further forward..The 2.0 Pinto / Cortina sohc motor is 10 times stronger than the old Kent engines..Oh and you'll need a 2.0 escort sump...

good idea mate thats one thing i wish i did with my mkI too........
i recon if ya gunna spend the cash doin this you midas well go with the 2lt turbo!
