Supercharge Explorer?

If I supercharged a 99 5.0L V-8 (215 hp) Explorer what type of gains can I expect to get?

And how much of a difference would supercharging make on gas mileage? (not a problem, just curious for reference)

Would someone also mind giving me links to superchargers that will fit a 99 Eddie Bauer Explorer (5.0L V-8)

Re: Supercharge Explorer?

If you do it right you can gain gas mileage, there will be a gain in horsepower and torque depending on the supercharger that you use one will be more then the other, and there is a factory supercharger that is on the thunderbird 91-95 that i do think bolts onto your motor, ford dont change much from year to year on the motor. and google paxton superchargers, you will need to upgrade fuel pumps and the best one besides the walboro 255i is the 89-92 ford e-150 fuel pump it is the same thing as the high performance fuel pump for half the price and a direct bolt on instead of modifying it.

Re: Supercharge Explorer?

No you will not magically gain fuel economy. More power = more fuel.

Also, the thunderbird SC supercharger will not "bolt onto" the explorer. That's way off.

Here's a supercharger that WILL fit on your explorer FORD RACING TRUCK SUPERCHARGER KIT M-6066-E52 1999-01 5.0L Explorer (6psi only)

They advertise about a 60 hp gain which is probably pretty accurate. Its effect on fuel economy will depend how heavy of a foot you have.

Re: Supercharge Explorer?

Not sure about fit, but:
Vortech Engineering: Viewing product: 1987-1997 Ford F-Series Truck, SUV Supercharging Systems

Your best bet would probably be to find a few Explorer specific forum communities and hunt there to see what others have done.
