Supercharging a Clevo

I am about to start to rebuild a 351 Clevo, thinking of supercharging later down the track.

What things should I be doing now durring the rebuild to prepare the engine for the strains that will be placed on it with a supercharger installed?

I only want to build this engine once, not pull it down again in 12 months to change things for the supercharger.

Thanks Shane

I think you would want to be lowering the compression for sure. Also depending on how much boost you are going to run you might want to look at strengthening the engines internals (forged pistons, better rods, rod bolts, etc, etc......)

Re: Supercharging a Clevo

Well, I'm looking at doing mine with a 302C and revving it a bit harder, but Basically I'm going to use OC heads to get the CR down to about 8:1, run a set of good Hyper-eutectic pistons (flat-tops in my case with the Open heads on the 302) and a *good* set of headgaskets, and I'm going to run electronic injection and either an intercooler in the manifold, or water/methanol injection (at 12,000rpm on the pump and 10psi boost, the increase in charge temperature is about 110degrees from the Eaton's spec sheets!) to keep the charge temps down...

Things to be doing now?
High volume oil pump
Shot-peened/polished and balanced rods
Nitrided crank
ARP Bolts all through the bottom end.

Depending on how much HP you wanna make, you may want to run a solid cam and fit the oil gallery restrictor kits and the external line to the oil pressure sender port at the back of the valley. I'm only planning on 6500rpm and 500-550 crank hp so my build-up doesn't need to be too extreme...
