Just think of insurance, how old are ya? You'll get the XR8 paid off one day in the debt department, and if the XR8 has done less kms, its better future investment.

'69 XW Fairmont GS (GT Replica), Reef Green 351c 2V (not for long ), Top Loader, 9" with 3.55's,
PROS:
Fast car, Sleeper factor
More unique
Satisfaction from doing the mods yourself
Potentially better off financially
CONS:
You might not have a car while your in the middle of doing the mods
It won't sound like a V8
Possibly higher insurance (although a V8 and a T6 wouldn't be that much different for a young person insurance wise)
It's Auto (unless you convert it to manual too)
The possibility of having to post an "OH NOES!~!! I BLEW UP MY XR6" thread when everything goes wrong
If you really really really want an auto turbo EF then do that - just don't underestimate your figures.
But if you want to be in a better financial situation I reckon the XR8 will hold better resale value than a home-built turbo EF, and you'll end up blowing your budget anyway..
No faster way to lose money than chop change and modify cars over and over..

$$ aside, how long will the turbo project take, and are you prepared to wait that long, sorting out any gremlins??
If the XR6 has the standard ticky suspension, how much $$ are you going to spend on it to get it driving nicely on the road? Add that to the cost of the turbo upgrade as well.
Why not take the XR6 on a nice long drive, and see if you can live with it??
