Turbo and Straight Gas

Hey Guys,

I looking at running turbo setup wit lowish boost. max of 6 - 8 pound atm.

Is anyone running a turbo setup with straight gas. I wanna know what is needed and how to go about it. Also what systems are you using etc etc.

As much info as possible would be awesome.

Thanks Matt:)

Re: Turbo and Straight Gas

ok well i wrote that in a rush at work so to clarify a bit.

I have a lpg system runnin on my car atm. A thing that worries me is will that system be able to run with the turbo wit a max boost of 5psi. Also will I still be able to run dual fuel or will it have to be 1 or the other.

Thanks
Matt:)

Re: Turbo and Straight Gas

From an emissions point of view, you will have to run straight gas.

If you do a search you will find many cars on straight gas making big power (400kw+).

Im not sure what system you are using so i dont know if it will hold up with turbo charging. The most common performance LPG systems are Impco and GasResearch.

Re: Turbo and Straight Gas

yeah thats why i was lookin at gas. n also i do a few kms so dont want it costin me a **** load.

The converter i am runnin atm is a Landi 80SE.

The rest of the system is pretty simple. I'm running a manual power vlave coz the electirc one buggered up. Only thing i gunna have to sort out is the mixer.

Are there any special bits eg mixer or are the converters any different. Or do they just have to have a decent power rating.

Thanks guys
Matt

Re: Turbo and Straight Gas

Do you have lots of money?

Are you planning on doing the work yourself?

Are you after big power? Or is economy still an issue?

What engine?

What car?

Re: Turbo and Straight Gas

hey TTNOS8,

Yes and No for first question. I dont have alot of money atm but am planning on doing it right. So yes i will be spendin alot of money on it.

Yes I will be doing as much of the work legally possible.

No not after huge power. Only bout 200rwkw atm. Won't be going any higher for a few years yet. And yes econonmy is an issue atm but hopefully not for long. (Gettin a job closer to home hopefully).

The car is my ED Falcon. Stock motor atm. But before ya say i need to rebuild it. I not gunna yet. I have a spare motor out of a XG ute. Same as ED motor. So when\if current motor blows or gets tired. I will chuck other motor in n do the blown one up to take the turbo and more power. But not planning for it to blow for a long time yet lol.

I found another older thread about some guys running straight gas n that has been helpful. I sent a few PM's so see what happens there.

If I do all this i will try and make up a guide to it. So atleast there will be sumfin for ppl to read n help them understand.

Thanks
Matt

Re: Turbo and Straight Gas

i think the best way for you to go about it would be to buy a pair of B2 converters and a S450 throttle body from the guys at gas research. i have used their stuff before and it is priced pretty well and they offer great after sales service... the gear is also simple to tune... if you have any questions just give me a yell

Re: Turbo and Straight Gas

you are looking at about $130 per converter.. and around $400-$500 for the throttle body...
