I am planning a turbo conversion for my 250 cross-flow XD falcon. I've have been told that EFI is the way to go when it comes to turbos, so i am switching from the good old 350 holley to EFI. So now what i need to know is , will the standard ford computer handle the turbo and can it be set up to run the turbo, other mods will need to be adapted such as a rising rate fuel regulator, high PSI fuel pump etc, but i just basicly need to know what computer diffuliciteis i will run into by putting the turbo on and how these are overcome????

I am planning to run around 7PSI of boost and also need to know if i will need an intercooler or not????

I owned a XD Falcon with a Turbo (T04 Garret) and yes it went well but whoever did the conversion didn't really get it right. Back then (around 1983) no one really understand what they were about and after getting defected because of emissions etc i took it off and sold the car.

when Ford dropped the v8 with the XE - Mike Vine designed and built some very nice conversion kits based on the 250 (EFI and carb) Don't know if he's still around but he was based in Queensland. There was a mob in Vic who did a twin turbo, all wheel drive XF - can't remember who it was but that thing really honked.

There are turbo systems using the stock VAF EECIV from XF Falcons. It can work quite well but these early EEC's lack the control of the later stuff and it's pretty hard to find a VAF that hasn't been ****ed with. A MAF system is more desirable but unfortunately the EA up sixes are Speed density Bank fired EEC's which can also handle a turbo but due to limited known data locations cannot be easily recalibrated. EB up type 5.0's are MAF Sequential EFI systems.

Ive just picked up a 3.9 MPI engine to use as a test bed for a MAF Sequential conversion using a 5.0 EEC reconfigured(with an EEC-Tuner) for the I6.
When testing is finalised in NA form, I'll be adding a Turbo and turning up the wick a bit.

thanks guys, after seeing jasons XE falcon on gas i have decided to sell my car and buy an XF that is on gas with the turbo conversaion already installed, so it will save a whole heap of stuffing around.... but thanks guys.....
