vacum cleaner turbo!

One of my friends was telling me of this idea he had of finding a 12V vacum cleaner (so it would run off the battery) and putting it in your car (connected somewhere in the intake pipe *shrugs*) via a switch so that you can turn it on / off. I was just wondering if this was possible....and if so....what would it be like?

Thanks

Dane.

ive run my v8 on lpg directly through the fuel injectors, running off a 9kg bbq cylinder for an hour or so, when others told me its impossible. I'll Give anything a try once, never know what you'll learn.

My experiment was dangerous and bound to stuff something up, i dont think that one would hurt to try.

I'll try that!

yes it's a stupid idea and will stuff your car up. Your computer couldn't handle the all of a sudden rush of air and it would lean out your motor and blow it up.
Another thing is that there is no way in hell a vacum cleaner will flow enough air to power your motor.
Your computer is designed to put a certian amount of fuel in for each rev point. Turbo's still require programming of the ECU and the tuiner needs to work out at what rev points more fuel is required.
An on off switch power thing would freak it out and you'd blow your car would either stall or blow up (that's if you could even get the thing to flow enough air for your motor which you can't)
Go slap your friend across the back of the head.
Hard!

I'm not having a go at you or anything carazy, but I'm curious as to just how running a motor lean would blow it up? My car was running EXTREMELY lean due to a faulty oxy sensor and it didn't hurt the motor.

12v vac is too small. Get your mum's vacuum cleaner, mount it on the bonnet. Install an extra 200v a/c alternator (unrectified) and plug the vac in. Just make sure you have it on blow and not suck!!

Now that would look extra cool. You could probably idle it and vacuum out the car as well, using the suck end.!!

Tongue

Yeah aslo make sure the vacuum is one of those twin motor ones that would make it go real fast. I think it would be called a twin turbo custom i wonder why no1 has thought of this before.

Thank you Damage. There is no way that this is going to work. If you really believe that this is something that will work I have some cheap bilge pumps that will work great as a supercharger.

Come on folks this is just shear stupidity at its best.
