I own an AU V8 and I am interested in putting a Vortech Blower kit on it. It is auto and standard apart from an exhaust. Can you guys tell me what will be suitable for an internally standard engine? I am working on a budget so I am trying to keep the cost down as much as I can. Any suggestions?
Yeah I have already contacted capa about what kits they offer and they haven't replied yet. I am just after a general opinion about what Vortech Blower will be suitable for a standard EFI Windsor and what I will need to upgrade etc. Can you guys tell me what the standard AU heads and manifold are like? I will probably be putting a shift kit and diff gears in when the Blower goes on too.

When i had my 5ltr i had a powerdyne on it.... with exhaust, cam and unichip i was able to make 245rwkw's out of it on 7psi...... it all depends on what you want out of the car.......... if you want more then that then get a Vortech. But with the vortech u should get a intercooler as well which adds a few $$$$
Atleast 30 Lp injectors. Good valve springs due to extra presure [boost]on them.Good exhaust especially extractors. Induction imo std is o/k its not quite the same issue with a blown engine as its forced through..What type s/c ?? Depends on how much power & $$$ Powerdynes internal belts can break, but driven correctly do last and belts are not a big deal to change.. Vortech is more heavy duty and my choice..Just make sure "ignition"/ "advance curve" and "fuel" is up to power potential...

I spoke to Marks Workshop today and asked about a Vortech kit. The kit comes with everything you need including fuel pump and injectors. For the kit installed and tuned it's about $8500 and it can be put on a standard motor and apparently the stock diff an gearbox are fine. It is supposed to bring power to 300kw at the flywheel on a stock motor with exhaust mods. Do you guys think it sounds ok, as I am seriously considering it.
Location: gold coast and off playing with 32psi of boost pumping into 4.1lt of pure ohc feralness and developing a 350hp n/a kit for ea-au i6, also making 5.0lt gear soon enuf

Re: What Blower for AU
8500 for complete kit installed and tuned it isnt bad.
however its a big out lay for 300kw,
turbo, will get that 300kw at tyres for that price
turbo-2k
cooler-1k
fuel system-1k
manifold-1k
ecu and tuning-2k
odds and sods-1k
thats a total of 8k and the the above prices are being generously rough.
i've just installed a turbo set up on a ea falcon 265rwkw stomped out @ 15psi (limit of a health engine)
all stock, t-5, lsd, motor internaly. has a custom t04 manifold, t04, 600x350x80mm cooler, fuel system and fuel only ecu all up was $5500.
given this is strssing the 230,000 engine with 15 psi, but when it blows he'll be getting a re-build anyways.
so just shop around weight up all the posibilties (s/c, turbo, n/a) ask your self wat you really want and be realistic about ur budget.
good luck and keep us informed.
cheers.joe.
