Re: What Supercharger did Ford use in the Windsor Mustang?
Saleen did...
While Ford has its top-line Cobra for high-performance junkies, Saleen used TV their knowledge to go a huge step up with its S351. Started in 1995 with this set-up, the S351 used a truck block but with modifications like aluminum heads, roller rockers, a bigger throttle body, upgraded fuel system, bigger fuel injectors and, best of all, the 'S' in the name stood for supercharged which meant a Vortech 6psi centrifugal blower. To contain the power a Tremec gearbox was fitted, with new rear end gears and an uprated limited-slip differential. The brakes featured huge discs with Alcon four-pot callipers, with 18-inch (457 mm) Speedline rims plus 255/35 and 295/35 BF Goodrich tyres. The special Saleen bodykit and graphics weren't matched inside, as it was mostly Mustang, but with the important addition of Recaro seats. Mid-12-second quarter-miles were possible in full street trim.
