I've got a 1990 Mustang, and I'm having issues with the brake lights.

This initially was spotted several months ago when someone pointed out that the brake lights weren't working. I did some checking, and found that a couple of cables near the brake pedal weren't connected. I connected them, and the brake lights started working again - but they weren't as bright as they should have been. I was extremely busy at the time, and I put the lights on the backburner. I've finally been able to get back to the lights, and discovered that now they're not working at all. All of my other back lights (tail lights, blinkers, and reverse) seem to work fine, and I've already replaced one of the brake lamp bulbs to test if that was the problem.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

The stop light switch at the brake pedal is probably bad. Check it for power with a test light.
