My sons 2000 Escort wont start - occasionally, usually when its cold... It's got good gas, spark, etc, but it seems to have an interlock issue... The starter just "clicks" one time when the key is turned... I turn the lights and radio on while trying to start and there is no dimming or fading... If I shift up and down thru the automatic gears or pump the brakes, it will start normally...
Is this common, unique, or P.F.M. ??? Help...

Make sure the battery terminals are cleaned and connected properly to the car, also i would check if the automatic gearbox safety switch (stops it from being started in any other gear except neutral and park) isnt faulty, as this mostly sounds like the cause.

If u shift thru the gears and then it starts then i'd say that would be your problem.
