2005 E150 doors lock automatically...occasionally
I have a 2005 E150, bought used with about 18,000 miles on it. Over the weekend I noticed that whenever I accelerated, the doors would lock after I got to a particular speed. This is odd as I have had the van four months and that has never happened.
Even more odd is the fact that they tried to lock again after I stopped and started up again, and even after removing my foot from the pedal and then giving it some gas again (maybe this is to keep people from entering the van at 40 miles per hour, who knows?).
The local dealer expects that the remote entry system will lock or unlock and also has a beep-beep-beep emergency button. It does have that remote, and that is how it works. They have also heard of automatic door locking, but I think they mean with an external alarm. I haven't looked for an aftermarket alarm, but it didn't come with one, as far as I know.
Any ideas on this?
