99 town car power window weird problem

drivers window will go down with switch but not up,.
yellow wire,. add a manual ground from battery, switch will operate window up,.but shorts stuff if you try to switch down,.
so reverse polarity is not working,. I can manually add power and ground to the motor reversing them as needed and window goes up and down fine,.
What,. Where,. How,. does it reverse polarity? is it all done in the drivers door module? The keyless entry works fine,. express window option works fine,. just motor will not raise by the switch,. when you energise the switch in the up position,. BOTH wires show power,.?? HUH??

thanks for any help,.
Nick

Re: 99 town car power window weird problem

I would say you have a problem with the switch. You can dis-assemble it and clean the contacts. The switch ground both sides of the motor when the switch is not being operated. When you move the switch, it takes the ground away from the one contact and adds power to it. The ground is still connected to the other contact.

i appreciate the idea,. but the switch shows power out as needed for up or down,.
i,m going to try jumping nthe black and tan to the yellow at the module,. and see if that makes it into a straight up/down window,..
