hi there, i have a grey airbag and want to upgrade to a momo steering wheel and have been told by mick webb and ford that the grey airbag can be painted ( vynal sprayed ) in black. has anyone done this... any ideas...
new black airbag... very expensive$$$$$

Yes, get some adhesive promoter and some vinyle spray and way you go

are you talking about the airbag cover pad/horn...or airbag itself??
i assume the cover, i don't think you'll care what colour the airbag is if you have a crash!!

yes i am talking about the cover.... grey with the black momo wheel!!!! i dont think so..

yeah...i have the same situation, i just fitted a black leather XR8 wheel, i actually don't think its that bad. Not worth messing around with paints.
But...i haven't seen a Momo one on.

with the new steering wheel there should be a black plastic backing plate, where the indicator and controls stick out of. Unscrew it and replace it with your existing one, that way the pad matches the backing plate, and the only thing black is the wheel itself.

the vinyl spray wont need an adhesion promoter
in fact it would probably stop it from doing its job, the viyl spray is a dye which needs to soak(sp?) into the vinyl, the promoter would stop it from doing this

i sprayed my centre hub black on my old car and there were no dramas

No need to use an adhesive promoter as the vinyl spray is a dye.

Falkeen did this on his AU1 Futura - I believe it worked well.

Well, I think the grey airbag would be much better than a black airbag....
Like, if you have an accident and everything goes black !
Could be a bit of a worry !!

But, if it all goes grey you would not have the frighteners quite so bad :(

Come to think of it, the best colour would be ROSE !!

Then if you had a stack.... all would be rosie :)
