confused AU III Rear Door Trims

I recently purchased an AU III XR6. And on the weekend I noticed the door trims at the top by the small rear quarter window to have come away. Its screwed in so its no loose. It just looks like its shrunk and now I can see the cork underneath. I took it to ford and they said its not uncommon, but theres SFA they can do about it. Apart from new trims or rplacing the window, because apparently the seals are all 1 unit. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and if they have, then how was the problem rectified or didn't it matter.

At ford, they said that the plastic strip around that rear quarter window is too small. I checked out some futuras in the fleet which are also series III and the trims look fine. I wonder if because my car is black and has leather interior, that its like an oven if left out in the sun. Maybe the extra heat inside the vehicle can contribute to this? Any ideas??

Is the car still under factory warranty?

I think you'll find that this type of thing is only covered for the first 1500km of the warranty period. After that. it's considered wear and tear. BUT - Try to get it fixed under warranty anyway. Don't accept their answer that "it's common" - just because something is common doesn't make it right!

Re: AU III Rear Door Trims

As far as I'm aware they are. When I spoke to them about it, they said when they look at the car and if it is a factory defect, then it will be covered under warranty. Anyway, I will wait and see. I've got it booked in, so when I drop it off, I'll confirm it with them.
