Does anyone know of a way to activate more information from the dash display, such as digital speed, tacho, coolant temp, fuel usage etc?
Thanks,
Cameron
Works on my wifes EL fairmont and thanks buddy !!!
The EL does flash 'ford' and it does surprise me that the EF doesa't.
BTW, the EL went into the panel shop today to have the complete
sill panel replaced compliments of Ford Australia.
I must say that Ford have looked after my family whenever I called on warranty work and that all adds to future sales in my
opinion.

Your a legend mate, i got it to work on my baby, and it flashed ford. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah.
Ok this is what i've noticed.
The digital speedo shows less than the analogue. out by about 2-3km/h. So going by the digital speedo my car does 2000rpm at 100km/h.
Oh yeah when my car is warm the lowest idle rpm i got was like 685.
*This is going to be EF_Guy's toy for the next few days. :s5 :s5

Jay,
I bet there is a way to get these additional functions, perhaps more since your car is newer. I'm curious why they didn't put it in the workshop manual.
Jase,
Can you shed some light for the AU1-AU2 guys.
Yeah these toys are addictive, talk about small things amuse small minds. :s5 :s5
However, on the EL2 Fairmont Ghia of my brothers the Ford thingo didn't flash up. Plus, we had it on mode 3 for a period of about 5 minutes when driving, and then the whole dash, that is, rev guage, speed guage, everything turned off, and then it went back to normal. Perhaps these things are for diagnostic testing, and they don't stay on all the time. Maybe i'm wrong, has anyone else noticed this?
Well i had it on mode 3, for like over 100km driving to work and it hasn't switched back, even tryed playing around with it while driving to checkout other modes, but no 3 is the best. Will check when i drive back home today though.

Yeah just been driving back from work, so far mine has stayed at mode 3. Interesting to note why it goes back to teh normal mode though.
Interesting to note, it seems on the EL2's built from August 1997 onwards that these extra functions don't work. suspect it'c because they have the similar updated module as the AU's.
Dad's car is built Jan 1998 and didn't work, it doesn't work on Mr Sparkles car as well.
I dont think km's left is in there as i have an trip computer also and the only function on that that shows up on the dash is inst litres per 100kms. Can't remeber what one it is, but it's the one where the top number will stay at zero until you start moving. the bottom number on also go up as you accellerate...
I've received the following reply from Tickford:

Cameron,
Thanks for your correspondence.
I am informed by Ford that the AU instrument cluster does not have the type of diagnostic facility that you refer to. This information can be extracted only by the genuine Ford Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) as used by dealers. By the way, this instrument is worth over $16,000 and is not available for sale to owners or the public.

Doesn't look good, unless the secret factory method can be obtained.
Just got onto these forums. so sorry for the stupid questions that might of been answered without me seeing
I have a Police Dash in my EF Falcon.
I got it to the Speedo Mode on the ODO, but could someone tell me what does it all mean?
Its currently on -13.5, whats the numbers 0 to -15 etc?
Also, how do i go to the Other Modes on the ODO, are they any other and what do they all mean?
--
Also, Someone said you can put a trip computer in a Stock EF or EL by connecting it to two cables in the loom behind the dash?
Im running LPG, how would i do it then? or even with the dash? How do i do it? :s2:
Thanks.
