No,

EF/EL/AUI/AUII/AUIII are all interchangable, but the BAs are different.

Different how? The AUs have a square spline/shaft. What does the BA have?

It may bolt on I don't know. But the electronics might not transfer, Cruise Control (std on BA XR) is completely different, not sure about radio controls but would expect them all to be lumped together with the airbag before connecting to that ring thingy.

Yeah, the splines are the same, but the airbags centres and wiring are totally different.

They are a totally different shape, and a different size aswell.

So i would be able to chuck an AU I/II/III XR airbag into my EL Gli. is it just a simple matter of replacing one wheel for another... are the airbag wires easy to connect ?

Nah, you just change over the wheel rim, and keep your airbag and install it in the AU wheel.
