Blinkers on XF

Hey guys .....

Tonight on the way home the left blinker light on the dash came on for no reason & stayed there for about 30 seconds & then started flashing............

It then went out & after a few minutes it did this again........ I was home by the time the second occurance happened.

I had not touched the blinkers for about 30k's..........

Any ideas ????????

No I dont jaeger......... I was driving by myself & it was only dusk so it didnt show.......

I havent checked them either yet as I had to feed my animals before it got too much darker ......

I remember on my old cortina the dash lights would blink really fast if a bulb was out and am wondering if this may be the XF's way of telling me that???????

no, the XF uses the same system as your cortina and basically every other car. if the dash indicator light blinks twice as fast as usual it means one of the bulbs on that indicator side is blown or disconnected.

i'm guessing there is a loose connection somewhere. Don't worry about it at the moment, but monitor the situation and if it happens frequently, get it checked out. XF's seem to have a way of sorting out some of their quirks by themselves.

hahaha so true.

you could have a earth problem just see how it goes if it does it again see what happens when you move the stalk.

It could be a build up of crap such as metal filings or the like bridging the contacts on the indicator stalk mechanism. This happened to a mate of mine with an old Galant. Somthing was damaged in the stalk mechanism and over time bits of metal built up in the mechanism and closed the circuit.

Sounds like dirty or loose contacts on the back of the speaker.
Or you've blown it up listening to Heavy Metal...
