I have an EF2 XR8 and I bought a Boomerang 2002 alarm system which came with a remote start funtion. I was told that it was fairly simple to bypass or remove the Ford factory system. The installer has removed the system, but even now when the car goes to remote start, it wont kick over and it seems as if there is an imobliser restricting it.

If I turn the key in the ignition to accessories it turns off smart lock for 5 minutes and I am then it allows it to remote start.

Is there anyway that smart lock can be permanently disabled? Has anyone come across this problem? Or does anyone have a full functional remote start system?

May be worth talking to some of the car audio places, I know I have used GCR in Elizabeth to Instal a remote system on my EB years back back was pretty certain that they are useless on smartlocks model cars

I did check around with a few installers and they said it was bypassable. Surely there has to be a way to disable an immobiliser?

If anyone knows anyone who can do it please let me know.
