Cool places to mount interior lights

Most of you would all have seen that it is possible to change the dash lights to a different color. As well as the ability to mount fairmont style footwell lights into gli EF's and EL's.

However I'm tossing up an idea to mount some colored lights inside my air vents on my EL. It got me thinking, yeah I could probably mount colored lights just about anywhere but I don't wanna go too far...

Next to this I was thinking about how you would turn them on or off. It probably wouldn't be such a good idea to jack them into the interior lights circuit as you would have to have courtesy lights on as well.

Has anyone here tried similar ideas?
did they work?
got any advice or pics?

By the time I pay off my car loan I should be able to afford a BA

I hooked up 8 neon tubes in my car, and i have them hooked up to a switch (simple switch that you can prolly pick up from jaycar or tandys) which is then hooked up to the battery. This way, my interior light remains seperate from the neons (which is what i wanted).

Try LEDs I ve replaced the interior lights apart from dash and doors handles with duel colour extra bright LEDs. The best part is with a flick of a hidden switch I can change the colour from White blueish colour (ment to be white) to bright red great for night vision Ha Ha like a helicopter ..It took some wiring work for the colour change with the duel LEDs haveing tow positves, so one more positive has to go to every point and took it took some time... The best part is iI can't see them, and they are alot brighter. didn't cost that much LEDs cost about $1 each so the more use the greater the costs and it can be done over time replacing each globe at a time, and they almost never die

Duel LED's come in a range of colours and can be brought from any good electronic compont outlet.

cool, had forgotten about the duel color leds... good idea

Has anyone played around with the air vents before in an EF or EL? I was thinking of mounting a couple of leds just inside and back a bit from the vent grills.

I got 2 blue neons (12") in my XF ute in place of interior light, looks cool as. Also got neons behind the EB grille with 'race mesh' behind that, havent met anyone who wasnt impressed yet.
