Dinging Sound won't stop

The vehicle info is in the sig line

The dinging sound when the key is in the ignition while the door is open stays on the whole time even with the door closed

I traced it to fuse 25, and when I pulled it, I found out the fuse controls the wipers, speedometer, odometer, inside dome light, and upper cab exterior light.

There is one wire, so it must connect to a bunch of others which I cannot see

My Haynes wasn't very helpful

Questions:

what is the technical name of the module which makes that dinging sound?

Where is it located?

How can I trace and isolate the wire for the module itself?

Re: Dinging Sound won't stop

Have you thought that maybe your door is ajar? As with a lot of the ford trucks this is one of the most common problems and the root cause for your "dinging". It is a little square box located under the dash. The exact location I could not tell you. I honestly dont think it would be that hard to find. Start the truck up and follow the sound. Pulling it out wont do anything other than stop the sound and not fix the prob.

Re: Dinging Sound won't stop

Thanks Lunatic.
Checked on the ajar door thing, but it is shut just fine. Since I am new at this, the best option is to just pull the box out since I can't find fuse 25 in the Haynes.

I'm not sure about the wiring

Would a possible suggestion be to follow the Haynes instructions on removing the steering wheel stuff as if I was changing the starter?

Re: Dinging Sound won't stop

actually you dont have to remove the dash to get to this. You should be able to access this from under the drivers side. You will have to get on your back in the footwell area but you can access the dinger from there.

Re: Dinging Sound won't stop

ohh and i still say it is the door latch mechanism. These fail like mad on the rangers. This is NOT a perm fix but should work. I would spray the door latching mechanism liberally with WD40. This should actually fix the issue you are having. Now you can remove the dinger piece, but heck I personally rather not crawl on my back to fix the issue.

Re: Dinging Sound won't stop

WD-40 ME !!!!!!!!

It worked. The Service Tech told me it would cost $85 an hr plus materials to switch the module & that he'd have to take the door panel off, etc. . .
I guess instead of WD-40, I woulda have to brought Vaseline to their shop, cuz they sure weren't plannin' on using it.

Thanks again, lunatic.
