Yesterday arvo as I was attempting to close the passenger front door(in ed falcon), I found the door wouldn't latch itself. Only way of keeping the door closed atm is to constantly lock it.
Needless to say car has been grounded til the door latch mechanism is repaired/replaced.
So far I've stripped most of the door trim out including the 'tamper' shielding, but I'm havin a few issues getting the actuating rods detatched from the mech, due to the plastic retainers that fit over the rods where they go into the operating loops.
Anyone got any suggestions?

with the door open use the shaft of a screw driver to check if the lock will hold.. if it does you need to reposition the striker on the door jam
After a while they move ever so slightly inwards and the lock will locate but not clamp down and close the door
