door pockets

hey there,

Does anyone know if the door map pockets can be removed and attached?
I have a brown interior and i cant find brown ones. I want to try and remove them from grey ones and attach them (if possible), but i would have to spray them brown, Has anyone done this, or know if this is possible?

Also, if anyone knows where to get some brown door trims, from a fairmont ghia LET ME KNOW ASAP

cheers.

Re: door pockets

dead easy to remove, takes a bit of fiddling to get the screw holes lined up to put them back on. there's 4 or 5 screws at the back holding them on. I did this to my GL before i got my Ghia interior. I only threw the bloody GL trims (with map pockets) out a few days ago too... d'oh!!

Re: door pockets

As mentioned above, the map pockets are pretty easy to remove/install.

As for getting brown ones, you might be looking for a while as I that that is a very rare color for the EA series.

You can paint the plastic section of it, and change the carpet to brown(or what ever color you want).

Ahh suff it, just throw in the EL Ghia int :)

Re: door pockets

I dont know if i would do it, but they say the vinyl spray can be used on carpets as well, you could give that a try.

Re: door pockets

Where in Melb are you???

Jolly Rogers Wrecker on Greens Road, Dandenong has two EA Ghia's with brown interiors. The door trims are still there...

As for fitting the map pockets, i put some in the other day. There are 5 screws holding each pocket in from the back. The easiest way to fit them to your doors is to position them on the front, press them down really hard. When you lift up the pocket, you can see imprints on the door from the screw holes. Then just drill through the imprints.

Cheers,
Dave
