Hi I have an EL XR6 and the doors won't stay open anymore (when you open the door completely it just closes again - instead of clipping/holding open). I was wondering if anyone else had had this problem and what they had done to fix it? Thanks
If you have a look in the door frame there is a bit that goes into the door frame when you close the door its up towards the front on the inside half way down the door jam. This is what holds the door open when you open it. Just pry these 2 peices of metal back apart cause over time with the continual open and close action they flaten out.

Yeah I understand what you are saying :-). I will take a look to see if this is causing the problem. Do the pieces of metal (that you are talking about) rest on 2 pieces of plastic? (and thats what holds the door open) Do these pieces of plastic need replacing if they are worn out? How do you replace them if they do? - Do you get what I am saying :-)? Thanks
If you have a look in the crappy photo. See where the arrow is pointing that gap inbetween the metal peices needs to be slightly pried back apart so your door will stay open. Dont go to hard at it or you wont be able to shut the door. Just try a little see if they stay open and if not bend them apart a little more....
If you can't pry them apart they are very easy to replace, Just knock out that pin in the centre and the bolts. Can't remember the price when I did mine, but i am sure it wasn't to high, then again we are talking about ford parts prices..lol
