Hey are driving lights really illegal??

Sim, I heard you got caught with the driving lights on. And then you gave the cops some cheek, so they hit you with a speeding fine. Did you loose you license??

THere are rules for the use of driving/fog lights.
You will find them on most of the states Road and Traffic sites.

fog lights are illegal not driving lights as long as the wattage dosent exceed 55W according to qld reg's they will try to fine you under the FOG LIGHT rule however fog lights are YELLOW cant drive in fog with white lights its worse than driving with your lights off. easy to contest.

i have driving lights rated @ 75w each on every time i am driving at night, i have never had any trouble with them and driven right past HWP SS's etc. As long as theyre at such an angle where they dont point right at other drivers, you should be fine.

yeah i got $100 and 1 point (my last point) i should be getting away with that but coz i caused a hell fuss he did me for speeding azwell (+ another 3 points). The thing is the copper wrote on the fine: EF Fairmont, Fog lamps on, No fog
Wen it was hella foggy the other nyt i turned em on with my parks and i couldnt see shit and then it struck me they are not fog lights they are factory ford turning lamps that shine out to the side, theres no way they can dazzel anyone there only 27W indicator globes

sorry for the large post, I find coz i do heaps of nyt time driving im sorta used to having them on, really helps on them country kinda roads. Yes I will be loosing my licence when i pay the speeding fine, for 3 months.

I told the boss straight out which was hard az to do coz i need my licence for werk but its made me a bit happier about it coz i get to keep my job, just gotta get my extraordinary licence in a month

Whoa, hang on. They were the factory lights?

If so, you, Ford and anyone else who knows anything about the EF's will be able to prove they're not fog lights, therefore getting you off the hook. They cant book you for using foglights if they're not foglights!

If they're factory, and they're rated to 27 watt, and they're white, there's no bloody way they can say they're fog lights! Or spotlights!

Look at it this way, court is like $50, if you win it gets charged to them as long as you seek costs. Can't hurt, just to put the wind up them.
