can it be done, I remember reading somwhere that somone said if you leave it a few days it will soak in?

Yes but special vinyle paint made for the job.

Same process for vinyl painting other parts of the car. Althought you may need to apply some plastic primer to these parts as they are usually given more rough treatment than other parts of the car.

but isnt the dye suppose to soak in? will it do that through the primer?

The only way to make dye 'soak' into plastic is to use inustrial dye called RIT dye and boil some water to soften the plastic and pour in the dye. Make sure you have an old pot laying around for that!

i did things like that back on RC cars, same principal tho, warm water and dye tho yeah it does ruin the pot afterwards works really well tho :)

Thats what made me think of the process when I used to dye the wheels on my R/C cars...many a fun time had with them...and still going!..
