EA - Heater Problem

Hey guys,

Weird problem with my EA CFI on LPG at the moment. Something ive noticed now its getting colder...

When I first start the car the heater functions beautifully (after it warms up of course). Nice and warm. Go for a drive, still warm. Stop for a while (city traffic) and the heater will go stone cold!

Ive got NFI why this is happening. Water pump is fine, heater tap is fine - and if the vacuum line dropped off, it would just default to open anyway. Car is still running warm - the thermos cycle in and out like youd expect.

Anyone have any ideas? Which way does the coolant flow through the heater core/bypass tube on the block? Maybe someones hooked a hose up wrong?

Ive never noticed a problem before in the last 3 years of having the car...

Hope someone can help, bloody melbourne is getting cold at the mo!

Jase

Could be a dodgy thermostat.

maybe the heater core is partially blocked and not enough coolant is passing through on idle?

I have just replaced the heater tap on mine, relatively new thermostat, but mine blows only slightly warm air. Im thinking that my core/hoses may be blocked up

Re: EA - Heater Problem

Hey Guys.

Just found this site as the heater in my EA is useless and it is bloody cold in Canberra.

Anyway, my heater warms up slightly after about 30 mins of driving. If I have it on the setting so that it blows air on my face, it just blows freezing cold air. Therefore I use it on the recirculate "feet" setting.

I have taken it to Ford and they have replaced the thermostat but that didn't help. They now want $600! to fix it.

I was hoping someone here might have some ideas that I can try?

Cheers.

Re: EA - Heater Problem

I had a problem like that.. it was a vaccum leak that goes to the brake booster.. but it would only leak at low revs (idle)

I fixed this with gasket goo.. and it worked alot better

..My main problem was a blocked heater core with I only found out when I cracked the intake pipe of the heater core.. To get at it you have to remove all the dash.. and deconnect the AC.. it's a prick of a job but can be done in a weekend.. altho it tock me 2 weeks to do it.. fixed and replaced alot of other parts at the same time ( carpet from grey to black, New seats, Steering Wheel, trip computer, Full amp rewiring)
