Hi I am trying to work out what wire is what on the back of the radio so I can install my new stereo. Does anyone know the color coding for them.

JUst go to supercheap auto and buy a stereo wiring harness that plugs into the factory plug and allows you to solder to your new stereo's harness. You buy these for your specific model and they do one for the EL as I just used one to put a JVC unit into my XH (same setup as EL) I think they cost about $20. This also allows you to easily remove or replace the factory radio.

thats what i used also, made everything very easy and the colours matched up on the adapter plug with the new headunit.

get a volt meter, find what each wire is. Also, if your up to it run 2 8 guage power wires ( negative/ground) and (bat direct) from the head unit, this will insure you cd player gets max power.

*tip, if your cd player ever dims when you turn your system up, you might consider doing this*

The colour coding is as follows

The antenna is obvious

Black (the wire on it's own) is ground

The four wires in the smaller of the two white connectors are as follows

Blue/red stripe - Rear Right Spkr +
Blue/black stripe - Rear Right Spkr -
Pink/green stripe - Rear left Spkr +
Pink/black stripe - Rear left Spkr -


The wires in the larger of the white connectors are:

grey/green stripe - Front Right Spkr +
grey/black stripe - Front Right Spkr -
orange/green stripe - Front left Spkr +
orange/black stripe - Front left Spkr -

Green/yellow stripe - Battery (permanent)
Blue/white stripe - Power
Red/Blue stripe - Antenna
Brown - Dimmer
Blue/red stripe - Unknown - Didn't use it on my new headset
