frown EF falcon Central Locking problem - Please help

Hi

I bought a 1995 Ford Falcon EF sedan this weekend and noticed a problem with the rear passenger door central locking not working. When i lock the car the rear passenger door stays open and unlocked. I didnt receive a owners manual with the car and am not sure where the sensor is located. How do I go about fixing this problem ? On advice from the dealer I sprayed WD40 into the door and lock and that seemed to fix the problem for a little while. Locks a few times and then just goes back being unlocked with all other doors locked.

Any help will be appreciated.

many thanks in advance.

Re: EF falcon Central Locking problem - Please help

if it tries to lock and then unlocks itself again there will be something stopping the solenoid from making full travel. something will be jamming it up. otherwise rip your door trim off and fill the solenoid with crc cos if it gets water in it they can do some really strange things

Thanks for that! yes thats exactly what it does. It tries and locks itself and then its as if something stops it and it unlocks itself. I will see what I can do with the door panels off this weekend.

regards

I have a similar problem with the front passenger door...

I lock the car, and the 2 buttons goes down, but the door isn't locked..

If I push the button down, all the doors lock, but this door doesn't.

If I lock the car with me sitting inside, then open the drivers door from the inside, all the doors unlock, if I do the same on the passenger side, they don't unlock when I pull the handle, they used to..

I recently had water in the tail light assembly (Wagon) and blew out a tail light, so I removed the light and drilled some holes to vent the water, I also noticed at about the same time, my electronic odometer isn't back lit any more, it still works, and I can see it turning over in daylight, I wonder if this is all connected..

I also have 3 young kids, who often get to the car before me, and sometimes have the door handle pulled up when I press the remote ...so that door isn't unlocked, so I have to lock, and unlock again..maybe this has upset something??!!

Any comments or suggestions welcome before I spend a small fortune to get a dealer to look at it...lol..

Thanks
