EF Falcon Vent Closure - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I have an EF Falcon GLI that shuts off the A/C air vent whilst climbing hils or under heavy throttle. Any suggestions ?

Welcome to FordForums.
The vents in an EF are controlled by vacuum. Sounds like you could have a leak in the aircond vacuum tubes, which is emptying the vacuum tank for the a/c system, or if there is a checkvalve it could be faulty. Not sure if the Fords use a checkvalve.

I will have it checked out. I was not very explicit with my post as I should have said that the vent closes with or without the AC operating, but it does sound like a vacuum problem.

I had the same problem,

Above and inside your glove box is the "air box" and on the side of this "air box" is a rod that opens the box from fresh air to recycle'ed air. That rode is attached to a plastic clip that breaks.

Once it breaks, bad luck you cant buy that clip, you need a complete air box assembly. Or...... do what i did, if you dont smoke - put a "Pk" seld tapping screw through the surface of the airbox into the flap inside. Putting fresh air whilst aircon is running really makes your aircon system run way to hard then in needs to.
