EF service spanner in dash

i have just changed the oil in my EF and i have the spanner showing in my dash telling me to get the car service.
does anyone know how to remove the spanner? and can the intervals be changed?

press and hold the button that resets the odometer for about 10 or so seconds. Check your car manual for further details.
